Regular events

What we usually do through the year at St. Augustine's church.

As well as our regular services, we have a number of special events which we usually celebrate each year. This does not prevent us from doing yet more things if we so wish !

St. Augustine's is part of Holy Trinity parish, so takes part in all the parish activities. We haven't tried to include everything that happens in this list, but we hope we've listed all those special to St. Augustine's, and those to which St. Augustine's people commonly make a significant contribution. Items marked :

Garden partySt. Augustine'sJanuaryA relaxed afternoon in someone's garden, with tea, cakes, and undemanding ( not compulsory ) activities.
Harvest festivalSt. Augustine's and Holy TrinityMarchThanksgiving for God's bountiful provision for our needs, through the traditional harvest and in other ways.
Procession of witnessParishGood FridayWe remember Jesus's journey to Calvary with a procession from Windsor Reserve to the top of Mount Victoria.
Patronal celebrationSt. Augustine'sMaySt. Augustine is remembered on May 26; on a Sunday close to that date we have a special service of thanksgiving.
Carol service, and barbecueSt. Augustine'sDecemberCarols, and a story, and ( afterwards ! ) a barbecue. BYO !
Carol singing - old membersParishDecemberWe travel round the parish, singing carols to older members of our congregations, and giving small gifts.
Carol singing - Victoria RoadParishDecemberWe sing in the many eating establishments of Devonport to remind them of Christmas - up one side of Victoria Road, and down the other.
Christingle serviceSt. Augustine's and Holy TrinityChristmas EveA very popular service; the Christingle reminds us of God's bounty to us, and particularly of the gift of His Son.
